Paralives build mode guide (2026)

Short answer: Paralives build mode is grid-free. Walls can curve, furniture can be resized and rotated to any angle, and every object has a full color and pattern wheel. Start with the foundation, then add walls, then furnish room by room.

What makes Paralives build mode different

The headline feature is grid-free placement. Unlike The Sims 4, you are not locked to a grid when placing walls or furniture. Key differences:

Getting started: the basic workflow

Place the foundation — Set the lot footprint first. Use Free Build or start from a template lot.
Draw walls — Click and drag to draw walls. Hold Shift for straight lines. Click and drag a curve handle for curved walls.
Add a roof — Select from roof styles in the Build tab. Roofs auto-generate but can be manually edited.
Furnish room by room — Use the catalog tabs (Seating, Surfaces, Storage, Lighting, Decor). Search by name or browse by room type.
Color and style — Click any placed object → color wheel icon → choose hue, saturation, pattern, and material.

Color wheel tips

Every single object in Paralives has its own independent color wheel. This means:

You can make a sofa any color, not just what the developer chose.
Pattern and material (matte, glossy, fabric, wood grain) are separate from hue.
Color settings save with the object, so colors are preserved when you save a room or lot to the library.

Furniture resizing

Select a placed object → hold the resize handle on any corner or edge → drag to scale. This works on most furniture. Use it to:

Make a coffee table exactly fit a rug.
Scale a bookshelf to ceiling height.
Resize wall art to fill a specific wall area.

Build mode cheats

No dedicated build mode cheats are currently verified for Paralives. Use money cheats to increase your budget if needed. See the cheats list.

What is not in build mode yet

Basements, swimming pools, cars and garages, and fully functional attic rooms are on the roadmap but not in the Early Access launch build. Check the roadmap tracker for current status.
